Floral Friday Foto – April 21, 2017

I call this a peony tree. I am sure it has another botanical name, but I so enjoy the blooms although they are brief. I have included a gallery below of the different blooming stages. If anyone has knowledge of the proper way to propagate please let me know in the comments.

Floral Friday Foto – March 31, 2017

022.jpgWeekly partakers of this blog hop share photos of flowers and the like through the Floral Friday Foto. I stepped to the side of the wide path with one of my photos of a new raised bed we built this week.

So that I won’t be asked to leave this welcoming place, I do have one of my now blooming Amaryllis.

Amaryllis for all! – Floral Friday Foto – 03/17/17

About two weeks ago I did a Floral Friday Foto post about the Orchids at the Biltmore Estate. While I was there I also found a few Amaryllis blooming so I snapped photos of them with the intent of sharing them in this post.

This is an Amaryllis that resides in my bay window in the room we converted into a den from a carport.

This is another Amaryllis that is just begging to bloom. It will likely take another few days to open, but I wanted to include it this time.

This past weekend we made a trip with our daughter and her best friend roommate to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC, USA. )n display were the most gorgeous orchids of which I have developed a fondness since we received one following my mother’s passing seven years ago.

The Peak of our Fall Mums – FFF 10/28/16

Floral Foto Friday is a weekly opportunity to see a collection of flowers from around the world gathers on a nifty site by Nick, who identifies himself as a academic from Melbourne Australia. He and his friends who join him weekly present a collection of plants unfamiliar to me and likely many of you here in the United States. I invite you to follow the link and see what else is available to gardening enthusiasts.

This week I am sharing the fall mums my wife planted in our west facing window boxes on the front of our home. From Mid May until Mid September they are home to Geraniums, but usually we switch them out for chrysanthemums when they have done their thing for the summer. This year my wife selected some robust yellow mums and they have made a wonderful show.

in my region these will not always live though our winter. I am thinking about trying a different approach, taking these out of the window boxes and digging into a pile of wood chips and planting them to try to allow them to survive until spring. If it works I will share the proof next spring.
